Our Very FIRST Five For Friday!

I am actually embarrassed to admit that this is our first time linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five For Friday. We have been reading other Five For Friday posts in the past and are thrilled that we can finally join the fun! Being on Spring Break this week has definitely helped with giving us time to link up. We are looking forward to meeting new blogging friends through this link up. Thanks for stopping by!

Mini Eggs

Oh. My. Word. This is my addiction come every Spring. Right after Valentine's Day I start seeing these babies at the grocery store. This year, I decided to give up ALL sweets for Lent. That means that I have not had one piece of candy, treat, ice cream, you name it, for 40 days. Let's just say that at 8:45 on Easter morning I ripped into my first bag and haven't stopped eating them since.

Puppy Cuddles

My husband and I went up to Northern California to visit my family for Easter... and look who I woke up to! I wish I had a dog of my own, but it just isn't practical for my husband and me to own a dog right now. So, I did the next best thing and bought this little guy for my mom about two years ago. He is a long haired dachshund and is not only precious, but FULL of personality!

My Attempt at Being Crafty

Before I became addicted to teaching blogs, I frequently stalked craft blogs. Well, between the craft blogs and Pinterest, I decided that I was going to learn how to sew. I love the idea of giving homemade gifts, and with many of my friends having babies now, I thought that homemade burp cloths, bibs, and blankets would be the perfect gift. I would also love to make things for my own kids someday! So, got this sewing machine for Christmas and recently took my first class.  Well, after two hours of learning how to thread the needle and wind the bobbin, I finally felt confident enough to start a project. I decided to get started right away so that I would not forget what I had learned. When I got home, I could not remember a thing. Nothing! I wish I had a completed project to show you guys, but this is all I have. Needless to say, I am retaking the class in two weeks {sigh}.

Yummy Food

I stopped at one of my favorite restaurants, Zinc for a quick breakfast. I love the outdoor seating and overall atmosphere of this place. Plus the food is fresh, healthy, and delicious! I was by myself and all the tables were in use. Suddenly a sweet elderly woman invited me to sit with her and her grandson. It was so kind of her to offer! I had a wonderful breakfast and great conversation with perfect strangers.

Polka dot Baggies

No week is complete with out a Target run! I found these adorable plastic bags in the dollar section at Target. I will be using them to store game cards for my math stations!

Don't forget to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five For Friday! Have  great weekend! :)

  1. Don't give up on sewing! It'll get easier, but it is something you have to kinda do to remember. I love making things, but I'm not the best sewer. I like embroidering things to make them personalized and I love crafts!!! Stick with it! It'll get easier!

  2. I'm a craft blog stalker too... I used to sew, and scrapbook... but I'm too much of a perfectionist to be happy with anything. LOVE target - I can't get out of there without spending some money! :) I found you through the linky and I love your blog design! :)

  5. Don't give up on sewing and don't be afraid to jump in on your own and make mistakes! I taught myself through pinterest and youtube videos, so if I can do it you can too! There were so many times I sat at the sewing machine and laughed at the mess I'd made with the bobbin thread or at how crooked my stitches were. Have fun, enjoy creating, and know you're gonna makes mistakes along the way but that's okay!
I LOVE those polka dot bags. I don't like near a Target, but those are going to be on my list for the next time I stop in.
