The Monster Who Lost His Mean

I came across this book last week called, The Monster Who Lost His Mean by Tiffany Strelitz Haber. How cute is that?! After looking through the pages, I knew that I just had to add it to my classroom library. This book has great vocabulary, pictures, and storyline. I created this little craftivity to go along with the book, however, you can use pretty much any monster related story for this. I will be having my students summarize the story and write about it on the monster. You can also have your kids create their own monsters and write a descriptive paragraph about it, or perhaps even write their own monster related story. Or, maybe you're more organized than me and have already finished your Halloween activities. If that's the case, then maybe you can save it for next year! You can download this activity for FREE by visiting my TPT store. If you do not have a TPT account and would still like this activity, please leave a comment below with your email address and I will be happy to send it to you.

Using the bubble map pictured below, students can write descriptive adjectives describing their own monster or the monster from the book.

Students can also practice their inferrencing skills by thinking about the monster's character traits.
Here is a picture of the book I found.

The monster clip art came from Digital Bake Shop. The border came from Fancy Dog Studio
I hope everyone has a great week!

  3. How cute is that? Another pairing for this book might be "Leonardo the Terrible Monster" by Mo Willems. I'm your newest follower!
